Congratulations to this weeks DANCERS OF THE WEEK at DanceAlive DanceStudio! This week, we have 3 dancers of the week! All 3 dancers were awarded a Hip Hop Scholarship this past season at JUMP Dance Convention!
Congratulations Amelia Hofmann, Bella Mattox, and Trinity Dunn! We are proud of all of you, your accomplishments, your love of dance and look forward to seeing how much more you will achieve!
Amelia Hofmann in her own words: What inspires me to dance is my passion for dance. When I dance I feel like I'm in a different world and nothing else matters almost like I'm a different person. Another inspiration for me is my dance teachers. They believe in me and I know they want me to do my best. I love them and thank them for caring for me. Some of my achievements that I have received from Dance Alive! Dance Studio is having the honor of being on their Performing Company and Hip Hop Corps competitive teams for the last 3 years. Last year, I was awarded a hip hop scholarship from Jump dance convention. I also auditioned for Sleeping Beauty through Indiana Youth Ballet and was cast in 2 roles! Through my school I won the show choir MVP 2016 and was able to attend their summer camp free. I'm looking forward to this dance season and I'm hoping I will be awarded my 1st ever solo dance.
Bella Mattox: Bella started dance in the fall of 2014 with Dance Alive as a new dancer. She saw the Dance Alive! dancers at a performance at the Octoberfest and decided that's what she wanted to do. She signed up the next week and 2 dance seasons later, she is thriving! She successfully auditioned for the Performing Company and Corps in the summer of 2015 and had a successful first competition season with her company. In January of 2016 she auditioned for the Joffrey Ballet summer intensive, and although she didn't make that, she has been working hard to meet some goals and will likely audition again. She has attended Jump Dance Convention in Chicago in 2015 (after being in dance for only 4 months) and 2016 with some of her dance friends at Dance Alive, and this year was blessed enough to receive a partial scholarship to attend Dancerpalooza in long Beach, California in August, which is a week long comprehensive dance experience. There she will be taking classes in Jazz, Contemporary, Musical Theatre, and Hip Hop from some of the industry's top professional choreographers and master teachers such as Travis Wall (SYTYCD), Nick Lazzarini, Twitch (SYTYCD, Ellen), Will Loftus (Teen Beach), and more. Since starting dance, Bella has learned so much and improved her technique tremendously over the last year. At the beginning of the dance season she made a goal to improve her turns and leaps, and specifically wanted to be able to perform fouettes. Her training at Dance Alive has allowed her to smash this goal and more! She took an extra class at the studio called Leaps and Turns, and with the help of her instructors, is now able to perform the fouettes she dreamed of doing!!! I cannot speak highly enough of all of her dance instructors at Dance Alive: Mrs. Neala, Mrs. Stephanie, Miss Kaylee, Mrs. Sylina, and Miss Miranda and Miss Lauren from last year, who have encouraged her, corrected her, pushed her, and supported her to become a better dancer. For next season, Bella would like to improve her ballet technique and has set that goal for herself. She plans on taking an extra ballet class in the fall to help her achieve that goal and work toward another Joffrey audition. Her long term goal is to become a professional dancer, and with her training at Dance Alive as a solid foundation, she is well on her way! Thank you Dance Alive Dance Studio!
Trinity Dunn: Trinity Dunn is beginning her 11th season of dance at Dance Alive! As Ms Neala’s daughter, she has grown up inside the studio! She is lucky to have grown up watching many dance classes and be inspired by all of the dancers who have come before her! From a very young age, she studied and focused on what all of the “older girls” were doing as her Mom, “Aunties”, "Sissy", and other dance teachers taught class. She would mimic their movements and was making big achievements in dance technique at a very young age. She started as a Performing Company dancer at age 5 and a Hip Hop Corps dancer at age 6. She is now in her 6th season as a competitive dancer and has very high hopes of receiving her first solo this year!
She has a genuine love for dance! There is nothing else she can see herself doing. Her favorite thing about dance is that it “really makes me happy, I like learning new things, being challenged, being with my dance friends almost every day and working together to do some really great stuff!” She says that dance is her life! She has very high aspirations of going to New York and taking Broadway and the dance world by storm when she is older!
Trinity, along with Ameilia and Bella, was also a Hip Hop Scholarship winner at JUMP Dance Convention!
